Friday Update 30.09.22

30 September 2022 (by stjohnb)

Dear Parents and Carers

Another busy week draws to a close and we end with our MacMillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning.  Thank you so much for the cakes that have been sent in. We hope that our mufti money as well as monies made from the coffee morning will help this fantastic organization continue to deliver help and support to families dealing with cancer.

Parents evenings have been arranged for the week beginning 17th October.  You have been sent a link to a document which will allow you to select a face to face or zoom meeting.  Please can you complete these as soon as possible so that your children’s teachers can organize the meetings.  There will be no after school football for Year 5 & 6 boys on Monday 17th October as we shall be taking part in the Maghull School Cross Country Race for Year 4,5 & 6 – more details nearer the time.  Dance for Year 1 & 2 will take place in the Polytunnel with Mrs Boynton.  The after-school club for Years 3&4 Hi Five Netball for boys and girls on Wednesday with Mr Parry will not take place as the school staff are receiving their Annual Safeguarding Training after school until 5.30pm.

Reading has always been a bedrock of all of our children’s development.  When children become independent readers, a whole new world becomes accessible to them and we are pleased to once again be able to offer our Autumn Book Fair which coincides with Parents Evenings.  The book fair will be open after school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and our Head Boy and Girl and Deputy Head Boy and Girl will be in attendance to help you.  Entrance for the book fair will be through the front door by the school office.

On Tuesday our Year 5 & 6 boys and girls took part in the Sefton Athletics Cross Country Race which was held at the Northern Cricket Club, Crosby.  I was so proud of every child’s efforts and I look forward to them enjoying future events which are planned throughout the coming year.

Tomorrow morning from 10.30pm until 12.00pm Miss Wood and I shall welcome new families to view our school for Reception 2023.

A short update this week but can I thank you all for your generous donations to our Harvest Collection.  The children in Year 4 will present our Whole School Collective Worship on Monday morning I shall then take a group of our children in the school mini bus and deliver the gifts of food to our local food bank as well as the Central Sefton Food Bank where it will be distributed throughout the borough to those in greatest need.

May I thank you all on behalf of our governing board for your continued support and generosity and wish you all a pleasant weekend.

Yours sincerely

Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
