Friday Update 04.02.22

4 February 2022 (by stjohnb)

Dear Parents and Carers

Another week passes and once again the children have enjoyed fine weather throughout.  This has meant that all the classes have enjoyed their playtimes and lunchtimes in the fresh air.

On Monday we celebrated St John Bosco’s Feast Day and I read out a lovely message from Fr Grant who wished us all a happy day of celebrations.

We now have one week of school remaining until our half term, which I know we are all looking forward to.

A big thank you to the parents and grandparents who have volunteered and trained to deliver a number of reading programmes for our children throughout the school.  We also have parents who are helping to bar code our new library which our children will be able to enjoy on our return after half term.

Although there are children who test positive and must therefore remain at home, this is thankfully for a much shorter period and we are fortunate that the majority of our children have been able to attend school.  Can I please urge you to continue to be vigilant, particularly if a member of your household has tested positive.  If you have any doubts please contact the school office where we will try our best to help you with the latest guidance.

Next week our Year 6 children will be absent as they enjoy an extremely busy adventure week at Kingswood.  As Mr Parry is one of the adults attending the residential, after school clubs that he delivers will not take place.  The dance classes on Monday and Thursday as well as Year 1 & 2 Lego Clubs will take place, all other clubs are postponed until we return after half term.  I have discussed the after-school clubs with Mr Parry and we have decided to continue with the same clubs after half term, as the variety offered has been particularly well received by the children.  I shall send another message next Friday to remind you of these arrangements.

When we return the After-School Provision Stjbkidzone, will be part of our school provision.  If you feel you would use this facility, please obtain a contract booklet from Wendy in the after-school club at the end of the school day.  It is important that you have a new contract signed before your child starts the club and particularly if you are an existing user of this facility, as you will then have access to contact details and new payment arrangements.

I would like to wish you all a happy and peaceful weekend.

Yours sincerely

Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
