Dear Parents and Carers

As you will be aware Mrs Bretherton has not been in school recently, and I would like to inform you of the arrangements that have been made to continue to provide the best education and support for your children that we can.

Mrs Bretherton had a Zoom session with all the children yesterday and informed them that she has to have an operation to remove her gall bladder. This is planned for New Years Eve and although she has told them that she wants to return as soon as possible, this will depend upon medical advice. She has asked me to pass this information on to you.

I am pleased that we have secured a specialist Year 6 supply teacher, who is able to provide continuity of provision until Mrs Bretherton is allowed to return. I have interviewed Mr McGaw. who as I have said specialises in Teaching Year 6 children and in particular preparing this age range of children for SATs Tests and other examinations. I was impressed with his drive and enthusiasm and I am confident that he will settle in quickly and have a positive impact on the class. Mrs Rigby will continue to be their support Teaching Assistant and it is my intention as in previous years to provide further support for mathematics groups.

I am sure you will join me in wishing Mrs Bretherton a speedy recovery, and I hope that your children will return in January ready to continue their class work in this important final year.
