Friday Update 9th July 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

It has been wonderful to have all our children back at school.   I have to say the building is absolutely buzzing with happy children learning together in their classrooms.  I hope and pray that our final week together before our well-earnedsummer break will remain that way.  There are only two things I would like to inform you of.

Firstly, following our final full governors meeting last night, it was decided that we would not be making any changes to our current arrangements for the children’s return on 2ndSeptember.  We feel that the current arrangement of dropping off and picking up works well and much can happen in the seven weeks or so until we all return to school.  I remain hopeful that we will be in a better place at the beginning of September and any of the changes will simply be around mixing of classes and support staff being able to resume their normal duties throughout the school.   I do hope that you agree that this is a sensible decision and one that will not create any confusion.

Although a fanatical fan of the National Team north of the border, I have been informed that there is a football match taking place on Sunday at 8.00pm.  The Governors have agreed that children may come to school on Monday morning at 10.00am if they are watching the Euro Final.  Teachers will be in as normal and Breakfast Club will also be available.  Should England win you may send your child into school dressed in red and white and any other appropriate celebratory decorations that you feel appropriate.  I wish England every success, as I felt that we were the better team when we played you in the group stages.

Can I remind parents to be respectful and keep your speed down when approaching school.  We have had a concerned neighbour from Turnbridge Road contact school, they are worried about the speed of cars approaching the two schools and lack of respect when parking at pick up and drop off times.  Please ensure that you do not park across residents pathways and keep the pavements clear for pushchairs to pass safely.  Can I thank you in advance for your support in this matter.

As we draw to the end of term can you please check your Iris Parentmail Dinner/Breakfast Club Accounts and make sure all payments are up to date to include up to Friday 16th July.

I wish you all a happy and peaceful weekend.

Yours sincerely

Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
