Friday update 23.04.21

23 April 2021 (by stjohnb)

Dear Parents and Carers

As we all continue to enjoy some greater freedoms school continues to function as normally as is possible. The extra precautions that we continue to maintain does put an extra burden on all of the staff and I would like to thank them for their continued dedication and hard work, many giving up their breaks and lunchtime to support your children.

Can I thank you for continuing to arrive and leave with your children in a safe and responsible manner and I am sure that as this continues Covid rates will continue to remain low and allow us all to look forward to a more normal summer. I am looking forward to 17th May when I am hopeful that we may be able to consider reinstating further changes that will enable our children’s school life to return to a normal pattern.

It was great to enjoy the first primary school football match in our area last Tuesday when we played against Green Park Primary in a most enjoyable game which saw the boys in Year 6 earn a 2:1 win. Next week the Year 6 boys will play away at our friends in Melling, whilst the girls will welcome Melling girls on Friday 30th April.

We have all enjoyed a beautiful week and the children are all working hard.

Can I remind anyone who is able to, or would like to help tidy up as well as attend to a few other jobs around school, that we will be meeting this Sunday at 10.00am for a few hours. Please bring any tools that you feel may be useful. If anyone has a cordless drill to fix some of the fencing that would certainly be useful. I shall be at the front of the school and we shall enter the school grounds through the front gate and then the side gate by our Year 6 classroom.

Once again, thank you to all of you for taking your children’s coughs and colds seriously as well as administering lateral flow tests. I remain hopeful that we shall enjoy similar weeks ahead but once again remind everyone that the virus is very much in our community although the vaccination programme is helping reduce transmission rates.

I hope the weather stays fine and you enjoy the weekend.

Yours sincerely

Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
