Latest Update

6 January 2021 (by stjohnb)

Dear Parents and Carers

A quick update to inform you of the current state of play.  We were somewhat surprised at the large number of children that attended school this morning.  This figure is considerably more than in the previous lockdown and as a result has created a number of issues that must be addressed if we are to keep all of our school community safe until we can all be vaccinated.  Each class has about a third of the children attending which means I must now arrange the children in specific year groups in order to maintain their safety and that of the teachers and support staff.  Although HM Government have informed everyone of the expectations and type of remote learning there nevertheless remains a problem in that teachers cannot be in two places at the same time.  We are however confident that with your patience and support we will strike a balance that will allow both children in school and at home to benefit.  You have all been most complimentary throughout this awful pandemic but I genuinely feel that the challenges placed upon school have never been greater and your kind words of support are a great source of comfort to all of us.

Your children's teachers are preparing their on line work as we speak and shall continue to do so on Thursday and Friday.  They will communicate with you via google classroom about their own individual arrangements and I hope that you will be patient as we navigate through these difficult challenges.

If you have not yet collected your child's home learning support pack they are available from the school office and your child will need this to begin their work in earnest on Monday morning.

Please consider carefully if you need to send your child into school or not as several local and regional schools are becoming overwhelmed and finding it increasingly difficult to deliver a remote service whilst supporting children within the traditional classroom setting.

We will as ever try to do our very best for your children and can I thank my teachers and support staff, dinner ladies and breakfast club staff for their relentless dedication to their profession as I know many of them have very genuine concerns but continue to put our children first.

Yours sincerely
