Friday Update

Dear Parents and Carers

Another particularly successful and rewarding week draws to a close.  Thank you for continuing to support your children and in particular if they are feeling unwell.  Our children continue to be happy in school and are enjoying the high quality lessons which are planned and delivered by our wonderful teachers.  Lunchtime arrangements are continuing to be successful and I have been particularly pleased with our infant children in the sensible way that they behave in the dinner hall.  We are fortunate that we can continue to keep our classes in discreet year groups and having dedicated play areas is also most helpful.

I do hope that those of you who have had their parents meeting on Zoom have found them helpful. The teachers have been particularly positive in their comments and have enjoyed sharing your children's achievements and strengths with you.  They will be completed next week, however, if anyone has fallen through the net for whatever reason, please simply contact the school office so that we can arrange a meeting.

The vast majority of parents at both schools continue to help us at this difficult time by parking sensibly, however, there remains a small number of stubborn individuals who clearly feel that the rules simply do not apply to them.  I am talking about knowingly parking on double yellow lines on a bend.  I have gently reminded a number of car owners, however, I do not feel it would be appropriate to share their responses with you.

A reminder that hot lunches are £11.25 per week payable on Friday via Parentmail for the following week.

Next Thursday and Friday will be special days for us as we shall be filming a number of activities and lessons, as well as interviewing a range of adults and children to promote our school as we are unable to welcome future families due to Coronavirus.  Parents of any children chosen to be interviewed will be contacted in advance to obtain their permission and we have a list of children who some parents have requested not to be named or filmed with regards to media.  This might be an appropriate time to ask those of you who have not completed the Home School Agreement Consent forms to do so and return them to school.  Our school is virtually full and it would be wonderful if we were able to maintain this and give as many future families the opportunity to send their children to our school.

Our Year 3 & 4 classes welcomed Chris Kirkland, ex Liverpool and England International Goal Keeper, into their classes earlier this week as part of their Community #I will programme.  Chris had a most enjoyable afternoon with the coaches from the LFC Foundation and posted on his twitter page how much he had enjoyed himself and that he could not believe how well mannered and engaged the children were as well as commenting on their amazing outdoor facilities.

Before I sign off I would like to inform you that I have received a letter from Sefton Council from The Education Excellence Categorisation 2020-21 where they have designated our school as a green level which is the highest performing category that they can award.  Clearly we do not do what we do to gain awards and certificates, however, I take it as a strong indicator of the powerful relationships that exist between our school and our parents and indeed the wider local community.  So well done to all of you and I hope you enjoy a peaceful weekend.

Yours sincerely

Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
