Monday Update
ear Parents and Carers
I do hope that this latest update finds you all safe and well. I now feel confident that I can let you know that the families that have indicated that they would like their children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 to return to school will be able to do so from Monday 22nd June. Unfortunately that is not the case for our children in other year groups, however we are looking to see if there is any way we can safely give them some school experience in preparation for our return in September.
I asked you to update your intentions last week if your child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. I can confirm that parental intentions remain the same so we are now in a position to put the children into appropriate small class groups. If your circumstances have changed YOU MUST inform the school office by this Thursday 18th June so that we can plan accordingly. I have tried to communicate clearly and appropriately and remain positive throughout this difficult period but we will not be able to accommodate children who just turn up on the day. I am sure you will appreciate the difficulty that this will cause for all of us. To date your communication and kind comments have been exemplary and there is no reason why this should not continue. The teachers have modified the home learning which I hope takes the support given to a new level which may well be needed in future months. I would love to be able to welcome all the children back to school where they belong but sadly this is just not possible at the moment. I will of course continue to keep you informed, where appropriate, and I am pleased that our New Reception Intake and our Year 6 Leavers arrangements continue to develop in a positive way.
Can I therefore ask you and particularly the parents of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 who intend to return on Monday 22nd June to re-read our Corona Virus Policy and in particular the parts relevant to your child. Obviously replace the 15th June for the 22nd June. Please pay particular attention to the sections 'Will the normal school timetable will apply?' 'What time will the new school day start?' and 'How will the children enter the school?'
In summary it is important that we stick to the timetable arranged as this will have a positive impact on each day. By way of recap the school will be open for Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 Monday to Thursday and closed on Friday except for the children who currently attend as those of key workers. Sadly I have been unsuccessful in gaining access to St James' Car Park (Yellow Gates) and ask that you walk if possible or park away from the school (MCA Car Park are happy for us to use their facility). We are asking all children to access the school through the front gate only where they will be met by the school staff. Only one parent should drop off and pick up their child for obvious reasons and I would very much appreciate your punctuality during the next few weeks. Reception children are to arrive at 8.45 am, Year 1 - 9.00am and Year 6 - 9.15am. Key worker children who currently attend school - 9.00am where there normal access arrangements will apply (family room entrance). If you have children in more than one of these year groups they will both attend at the earlier time for your convenience.
I do hope that these instructions are clear and I once again direct your attention to the main document that was sent via the school app and parentmail. Should you require any clarification I am in school daily and the school office contact details remain the same for you to access.
It is exciting that some of our classrooms will once again have children in them and I would like to thank all the staff who have and continue to work as hard as they can for your children throughout this extremely challenging time. I would like to thank the governors for their support in helping us to make our children's learning environment as safe as is possible and I would like to thank you for your continued support and genuinely hope that by working together we can begin to look forward to returning to a more normal arrangement when it is safe to do so.
Yours sincerely
Mr D MacAreavy - Headteacher
